For the citizens of Calgary flowers may not be their highest priority in this day and age. People are struggling to make ends meet with the little money they have. What need would they have for a flower arrangement? Quite a lot it seems, because in spite of people struggling to purchase enough food to feed their family, they are still spending serious money on bouquets.
There is no proper use for a flower arrangement in a home. Unlike food, it does not sate hunger and will not quench thirst.
